February - The Love Month

We are now in the second half of February, the "love" month. Within a 2 week period I had to make a ton of valentines... 11 to be exact, as well as an engagement card and a birthday card for my wee grandson who celebrated his first birthday.

Love Bug

First up, I will share with you the engagement card I made for my daughter. She loves VW bugs (known as Punch Buggies in our family). And since she and her fiancé are always taking off on trips here and there, the "Love Bug" was perfect for their card. There is one tiny addition I made after taking the picture. I added a small, sheer aqua bow to the car's bumper. It looked adorable.

Hinged Flap with Hidden Message

Card Details

The card is a hefty 5x7" size. I love this colour combo. Bright aqua card (with matching envelope), teal and pale yellow. The inside of the card is the same shade of yellow. Just worked out that way!

For the car, I used metallic silver stock, gray, blue vellum, black and a tiny touch of pink. There are many layers. The window was especially fun to do. I also used my Cuttlebug to emboss the pale yellow background. The sentiment on the front was created on my computer. It took some fiddling around to get it just right and sandwiched between the frame and heart.

 Inside

I had been looking for a reason to use my Fabulous Finds cartridge. In particular, I wanted to make something hinged. I also wanted an uncluttered look on the inside, just simple and to the point.

The raised silhouette heads looked better than I thought they would, backed up with black.

The "Mr. & Mrs." panel flips up to reveal another message -- "Congratulations!"

Although the card looks fairly basic, it does require a lot of time to get things sized properly.

The card in it's aqua envelope then went into a gift bag which I also made, especially for the happy couple. You can see it HERE.

Cartridges used were:
Sweethearts, Fabulous Finds, and Jasmine.

  2. I love this card Mom! And it is so "us". Your cards are the hardest to put away when the month of the occasion has passed.
