About Spelling

If you follow my blog or know me at all, you will soon realize that I spell certain words differently from what you are used to seeing on most web sites. This is because I am Canadian and I am a spelling NUT. It drives me crazy when things are misspelled. So naturally, it would rub me the wrong way to purposely leave out letters from words that I know need them. Canadian spelling is actually a blend of British and U.S.

Love is On the Way

Happy New Year, and welcome to the year 2011. A new year brings with it a ton of opportunities for expressing our love and appreciation to those we care about. And what better time to get started on making valentines?

This little card is a charmer and features cuts from A Child's Year. I love the vintage feel that this cartridge provides. This design reminds me of being in school and making valentines for my friends. We were all secretive and shy about who got the extra special ones. Do you remember receiving cards signed by a question mark? But I digress. Do any of you daydream while you are designing your cards?

The card is an A2 size, or 5-1/2 x 4-1/4". The base is white cardstock which I inked with silver all around the edges. I love the background of falling hearts. The child and puppy image is cut at 3-1/2" from embossed CS, shadowed in black. Pop dots were added for dimension. I prepared the sentiment on the computer and tucked it under a small shiny bow.

Here's a pic of the card without the sentiment. I'm not sure which version I like better. Which do you prefer?

And since every valentine needs a touch of bling, the one this little girl is carrying shows off a sparkly diamond. It's really just a rhinestone but sssshh... she thinks it's real.

  1. Was hoping to find your Christmas cards posted now that your 'snoopy eyes' are 'in the know'! ;) LOVE this vintage style card - with the verse. (If I am honest, I think the bow detracts from it, and that the 'bling' will 'pop' more without it - but, that's just one gals opinion! :)

  2. I really love your card. I like the bow and the sentiment! Guess it can go anyway you like it! :) Thanks for sharing with us.

About Me

My photo
I guess you might call me a "right brainer", loving all things creative. Cardmaking is the perfect hobby for me as it allows me to be totally creative, combining design with poetry or verses I can compose myself. With Christmas being such an important occasion for cardmaking and crafting, I decided to create a separate blog just for Christmas projects. "It's All About Christmas" will host all my Christmas items. "Gracenotes For Today" will still feature items every other occasion of the year. I hope you'll drop by often and stay awhile!
