About Spelling

If you follow my blog or know me at all, you will soon realize that I spell certain words differently from what you are used to seeing on most web sites. This is because I am Canadian and I am a spelling NUT. It drives me crazy when things are misspelled. So naturally, it would rub me the wrong way to purposely leave out letters from words that I know need them. Canadian spelling is actually a blend of British and U.S.

Expectant Mommy

A "Preggy" Card

For this card of Congratulations, I wanted to keep it fun. I love the image of the "preggy" young woman, swinging along happily.

She is quite trendy in her purple maternity top, which coordinates with her shoes and purse.

The Sentiment

There is nothing better than a personalized sentiment. And since I couldn't find what I wanted ready-made, I designed the sentiment, "So Happy for You" using my Gypsy. If you'd like more details, leave me a comment with your email addy.

The colour scheme is taken from the "birdie" background card stock, DCWV Nana's Kids.

The expectant "Mommy" is from the New Arrival cartridge. This cart has so many adorable cuts on it. And I've always wanted an occasion to use this image.

Inside

The inside verse was created on my computer, using teal for the font colour to match the front. Continuing the colour theme, I matted the verse on teal, then pearlized aqua. The top strip is punched using the Martha Stewart lattice punch.

Details

Card size: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" (A2)
Base: white cardstock
Front background: embossed dots on soft amber, DCWV Nana's Kids
Hair, face features, skin and shoes; painted using ProMarkers

Embellishments: Sequin heart (on sentiment) and flower (on purse)

REFLECT ~ Birthday Wishes

Birthdays Are a Time for Reflection

birthday reflections, card front
I am happy to share with you my latest card creation. This design would also work for occasions other than birthday.

Card size:  4-1/2 x 6-1/4

I love this card size. It's more generous than a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 (A2) without being as gigantic as a 5x7".

The sentiment is cut from foil cardstock, matted onto blue, backed by a strip of lace that I made using a Martha Stewart punch.

I prepared the inside scripture verse and message on the computer, in Word.

I created the greeting using Word Art and placed it below the verse.

New Media Center

"BEFORE"

I'm so excited about my new Media Center, I just had to share it with you!

This piece was made with love and was one unit of a pair that stored music books in my Mom's piano studio.

Inside, it is painted orange -- quite cheerful, actually. One thing is certain about this cabinet ... it is STURDY. Dad made everything to last a lifetime, and then some.

I will be using it in my office to store computer/office supplies. Thinking about whether or not to give it a face lift.

What's Happening to Me?

The new media center is larger and much more sleek. This is a detour for me because I've always been a traditionalist when it comes to furnishings.

"AFTER"
I still love wood grain. There is just something warm and inviting about natural wood. But take a look at the newest item that joins my family of furnishings.

Sleek much! The doors are white and glossy with the centre being clear glass. I wanted my "clickers" to work through the glass.

It's not huge, but honestly, it's as big as I need to go. I have plans for more storage on another wall which will house music books, reading material and accessories, for prettiness.

My "condo" is going through a metamorphosis and I'm on a roll now. Such fun!

About Me

My photo
I guess you might call me a "right brainer", loving all things creative. Cardmaking is the perfect hobby for me as it allows me to be totally creative, combining design with poetry or verses I can compose myself. With Christmas being such an important occasion for cardmaking and crafting, I decided to create a separate blog just for Christmas projects. "It's All About Christmas" will host all my Christmas items. "Gracenotes For Today" will still feature items every other occasion of the year. I hope you'll drop by often and stay awhile!
