About Spelling
If you follow my blog or know me at all, you will soon realize that I spell certain words differently from what you are used to seeing on most web sites. This is because I am Canadian and I am a spelling NUT. It drives me crazy when things are misspelled. So naturally, it would rub me the wrong way to purposely leave out letters from words that I know need them. Canadian spelling is actually a blend of British and U.S.

SNOVEMBER!
It's That Happy Time Again
The weather has turned cold, and snow is in the air. At least, in many parts of the Greater Toronto Area. Snow always makes me excited. And Christmas is just around the corner!
This is a quick post to let you know I will be posting Christmas cards and tags on my other blog at It's All About Christmas.
I hope you will drop by now and then to see some festive projects. This year, I am making JUMBO TAGS!
See you there!

Window Kitty Birthday Card
Looking Through My Window

Kitty, looking out the window is amused by the little bird that just landed on the top of the spade.
The scene outside a cat's window is always changing. No wonder they like to stare for so long.
Inside

On the inside, we see the kitty's view through the window. We can see his coloring better, too. Doesn't his fur look real?
The actual "glass" of the window is acetate.
Notice, the wee bird and one petunia are coloured on both sides as they show through the glass.
Sentiment and Verse
Inside the card is another card which contains the birthday sentiment and verse. This provided a panel to be the wallpaper of the room. (see top photo)
"Birthday Blessings" was cut at a rather large size, filling the width of the inside card.
After sizing and trimming the inside verse panel, I punched the corners with my MS lace punch.
Details
Window: After cutting 2 window frames, I scored them across the top and bottom to make the molding stand out. On the inside frame, I drew a faint brown line near the bottom to create a window sill for kitty to sit on.
Kitty is cut from white and sponged in tea dye ink, then I painted tabby markings in light brown Promarker. I coloured both sides as he is visible from front and back.
Curtain was cut twice and glued back-to-back.
Flowers: cut from bright pink, and I hand painted darker pink veins to resemble petunias.
Leaves: cut flat shape as per cartridge, then I added extra punched leaves
Grass: layered back piece with punched leaves (bush)
Spade and bird: cut from white and coloured with Promarkers
Cartridges Used
Everyday Paper Dolls - Cat
Creative Cards - Card shape, window, curtain, window box and flowers
A Child's Year - Spade with grass and bird
George & Basic Shapes - Birthday Blessings sentiment

About Me

- Grace Baxter
- I guess you might call me a "right brainer", loving all things creative. Cardmaking is the perfect hobby for me as it allows me to be totally creative, combining design with poetry or verses I can compose myself. With Christmas being such an important occasion for cardmaking and crafting, I decided to create a separate blog just for Christmas projects. "It's All About Christmas" will host all my Christmas items. "Gracenotes For Today" will still feature items every other occasion of the year. I hope you'll drop by often and stay awhile!
