About Spelling

If you follow my blog or know me at all, you will soon realize that I spell certain words differently from what you are used to seeing on most web sites. This is because I am Canadian and I am a spelling NUT. It drives me crazy when things are misspelled. So naturally, it would rub me the wrong way to purposely leave out letters from words that I know need them. Canadian spelling is actually a blend of British and U.S.

HE IS RISEN, Easter Card

A Simple Message

He Is Risen, Easter card with shaped front, by Grace Baxter

This year, all my Easter cards tell the real meaning of Easter. These A2 cards are almost identical. The only differences: frame on one, and different background papers inside.

Clouds and Cloud-Shaped Top

I created the cloud shape for the card top using my Gypsy. To do this, I selected the clouds I liked best (see cartridges below) and welded them to the top of a rectangle. The total hight was 5-1/2". Then this piece was welded to another rectangle to be the back panel or the inside of the card.

He Is Risen - Phrase

I created the phrase for the card front using my Gypsy. The cross is part of the yellow-cut phrase but has an extra layer, cut from gold metalic card stock. See list of Cartridges below.

He Is Risen, Easter card inside verse, Designed by Grace BaxterAs always, I designed the inside verse on the computer and printed it onto cardstock, not paper.

In keeping with my rule about not ever wanting to make two IDENTICAL cards, I changed up the frames behind the verse on the inside.

For the sky at the top of the inside, I sponged ink in 2 different shades of blue.

The sun shape I selected was perfect for cutting in half.

I love how the sun peeks out from behind the clouds when the card is closed.

Cartridges Used

Alphalicious - "He Is Risen" phrase
Easter 2010 - cross in the phrase
Everyday Paper Dolls - cloud
George and Basic Shapes - white frame on front of one card
Straight from the Nest - cloud
Indie Art - the best Sun ever!

Have a wonderful, safe and blessed Easter!

  1. Grace, these cards are just beautiful. My Gypsy girl has taken a back seat to Design Space and Explore, but I did have to use her recently to cut a project I had saved in it a while ago. TFS and Happy Easter.

About Me

My photo
I guess you might call me a "right brainer", loving all things creative. Cardmaking is the perfect hobby for me as it allows me to be totally creative, combining design with poetry or verses I can compose myself. With Christmas being such an important occasion for cardmaking and crafting, I decided to create a separate blog just for Christmas projects. "It's All About Christmas" will host all my Christmas items. "Gracenotes For Today" will still feature items every other occasion of the year. I hope you'll drop by often and stay awhile!
