About Spelling
If you follow my blog or know me at all, you will soon realize that I spell certain words differently from what you are used to seeing on most web sites. This is because I am Canadian and I am a spelling NUT. It drives me crazy when things are misspelled. So naturally, it would rub me the wrong way to purposely leave out letters from words that I know need them. Canadian spelling is actually a blend of British and U.S.

Pop-Up Gifts Birthday Card
Happy Birdie Day - With Pop-Up Gifts Inside
Lately, I've been on a roll with pop-up cards. I love the theme of the birthday bird, with some impressive dimensional gifts inside for the recipient!
If you would like details on how I made this card, it's easy. First become a follower of THIS blog, then leave me a comment, requesting the PDF. Include your email address. I will send you the PDF tutorial of detailed instructions with diagrams and pictures.
Note: If you prefer your email addy to be private, just say "keep private" somewhere in your comment. I screen all comments before publishing them.
PLEASE remember to give me your email address or I will not be able to send the PDF to you. I have received several requests so far that have not given their email. All I can say is, I hope you get back to me with your info.
Thanks for visiting!

Changing Strategies
Time for a Change
Hello fellow crafters and cardmakers! I have decided to change the way I will be blogging my cards and other projects.
From now on, I will post pictures of my projects and give very few, if any details on how I made them. Instead, I will be providing information sheets to any of my followers who want them. These will be downloadable PDFs.
Why, you ask? For three reasons:
- I want to have more personal connection to my followers, fans and other interested people.
- I want to provide value to followers.
- Lastly, it takes a lot of time writing and designing blog posts. I am a stickler for detail and I would rather spend that energy preparing PDF downloads for those who really want the information.
I have been blogging since 2009, and it's a tough way to interact with visitors. And I wonder if people really care to know the details. Judging by the very few comments I receive, I would say no. Maybe it's overkill for me to painstakingly make note of all the measurements, cartridges used and descriptions of how I put things together.
What Will Change
So here's how I will save time... mine and yours, as the reader. For the time being, I will continue posting my cards and other projects. I also have all my cards on my Pinterest boards for Grace Notes for Today, and It's All About Christmas. In addition, I have a Facebook page where I post all cards and card-like projects from both blogs. Add to that my Twitter page, which, admittedly, is not always up-to-date. See below for links to my social media pages.
Perks for Followers
Anyone who wants details on my cards and projects will need to become a follower. Click the blue button in the right sidebar and fill in your information. Then, leave me a comment under the latest post. You will also need to give me your email address so I can send you the PDF. Be sure to specify which card/project instructions you want.
If you do not want others to see your email address, in the comment section ask me not to publish your comment. And of course, I am always happy to receive comments about anything you like on my blogs, whether or not you want a PDF.
I'm going to try this strategy for awhile and see if it makes a difference in visitor satisfaction and an overall happy experience.

Happy Sweet 16th Birthday
Doesn't Get Any Sweeter!
When a girl turns 16, she suddenly believes she is a woman. After all, she is legally of age to drive a car. Of course, we know that a woman is not fully mature until the age of 27 (according to Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz), but you will never convince a teen girl of that!
I say, enjoy your youth and celebrate the sweetness of being 16. And what better way than with a giant cupcake!
This project started out to be a shaped card but it wasn't impressive enough for my recipient. So I mounted the 5-1/4" high cupcake onto a card that is 4-1/2" x 6-1/4".
I created a white-on-white background and embossed it. Printed papers, no matter how subtle were just too distracting for the cupcake.
Festive Fun!
Although the cupcake top had chocolate sprinkles, (a.k.a. brown behind the cutout sprinkles), it still looked a little bare. We have all seen cake decorating sprinkles that are larger circles, and I had the exact size in the form of shiny foil confetti circles! The colours of silver, fuschia and aqua were perfect.
For the cupcake wrapper, I used aqua embossed paper that was screaming out, "I am cupcake wrapper paper!" If you click on the pic you will see what I mean.
Sentiment
I decided on a sentiment that has double meaning.
Wishing You a Sweet 16th Birthday
Inside
I used a harmonizing designer paper for the backing behind the verse. No poem this time, just a sincere and warm greeting.
I'm sure my teen recipient will enjoy this card. And how cute is that chubby cherry on top!

About Me

- Grace Baxter
- I guess you might call me a "right brainer", loving all things creative. Cardmaking is the perfect hobby for me as it allows me to be totally creative, combining design with poetry or verses I can compose myself. With Christmas being such an important occasion for cardmaking and crafting, I decided to create a separate blog just for Christmas projects. "It's All About Christmas" will host all my Christmas items. "Gracenotes For Today" will still feature items every other occasion of the year. I hope you'll drop by often and stay awhile!
