About Spelling

If you follow my blog or know me at all, you will soon realize that I spell certain words differently from what you are used to seeing on most web sites. This is because I am Canadian and I am a spelling NUT. It drives me crazy when things are misspelled. So naturally, it would rub me the wrong way to purposely leave out letters from words that I know need them. Canadian spelling is actually a blend of British and U.S.

Bunny Hop Easter Card

Happy Easter!

bunny hop Easter card, by Grace Baxter

This Easter scene started out as a simple card but when I discovered a cute picket fence in Design Space, the card took on its own design!

The bunny, Peter Cottontail's sister Pipi, takes front and centre as she hops over the garden fence. She is cut from white CS and shaded in all the right places.

This card is a generous size: 4-1/2" x 6-1/4" landscape style. I've given it plenty of dimension. The frame is popped with dimensionals and the bunny has double dimension.

Inside Poem

I always like to give my Easter cards real meaning, even when I design a fun or secular motif like this one. There really IS just ONE reason for the holiday. So the inside features a new poem I wrote for this Easter season. I am using it on most of my Easter cards this year.

Tutorial: Adding FREE Fonts to Cricut Design Space

How to Find, Download and Install Free Fonts

Fun with Fonts

Have you ever wished you had some beautiful fonts but don't want to buy them? Or maybe you're not sure how to install them. This video tutorial will help you find, download and install FREE fonts to your PC using Windows 10. Once installed, the fonts will be available for use in Cricut Design Space under "System Fonts". I will also clear up some terminology about fonts, making it very simple to understand.

Screen Shot of Menus

I walk you through the step-by-step process and show you actual screen shots of what the menus look like. To follow the steps and see everything clearly, I recommend viewing the video in HD and full screen.

Creating Shadowed Phrases in Design Space

Using Your System Fonts

I have made the most wonderful discovery in Cricut Design Space! I figured out how to use my own computer (System) fonts to create phrases, sentiments and titles. But hold on... these are not ordinary FLAT phrases. No, no... that wouldn't be exciting or different.

With my technique, you will now be able to type ANY WORD OR PHRASE in your favourite font and then create a shadow for it. In my video tutorial, I teach you step by step how to make the shadow and how to manipulate and place the shadow correctly for the best result. I also give you some tips about choosing fonts.

Hello and Hello Again:  Dancing Script
I love Spring:  Philosopher
Family (aqua): Chopin Script
Family (gold)  Chaparral Pro
GO TEAM!:  Centrum Poster

You will want to view the video in HD so I recommend clicking on the YouTube button and viewing it full screen to see everything up close. Hold onto your hat... this will blow you away!

Using this method of shadowing text, it is possible to make gorgeous phrases and titles all while working inside the Cricut Design Space. No other software or computer knowledge is required!

There are literally thousands of FREE fonts available for download on the Internet. This method of designing with fonts takes creativity to the absolute highest level! And I am so thrilled to have figured it out.

Because of this discovery, I will be coming out with more video tutorials on best practices in using fonts, and how to make some amazingly creative "Print and Cut" images for your own projects. So stay tuned!

Creatively yours,

About Me

My photo
I guess you might call me a "right brainer", loving all things creative. Cardmaking is the perfect hobby for me as it allows me to be totally creative, combining design with poetry or verses I can compose myself. With Christmas being such an important occasion for cardmaking and crafting, I decided to create a separate blog just for Christmas projects. "It's All About Christmas" will host all my Christmas items. "Gracenotes For Today" will still feature items every other occasion of the year. I hope you'll drop by often and stay awhile!
