About Spelling

If you follow my blog or know me at all, you will soon realize that I spell certain words differently from what you are used to seeing on most web sites. This is because I am Canadian and I am a spelling NUT. It drives me crazy when things are misspelled. So naturally, it would rub me the wrong way to purposely leave out letters from words that I know need them. Canadian spelling is actually a blend of British and U.S.

Make a Splash, birthday card. Designed by Grace Baxter

A Summery Theme

I love this cute little whale, showing off and making a splash. I wanted to keep this theme fun-loving and playful, even though it is for an accomplished adult. Birthday cards don't always have to say "happy birthday" on the front.

Make-a-Splash Sentiment

It's all about the FONT. I created my own graphic for this one. I love designing my own sentiments because I can create the perfect sentiment and choose the font that works best!

Note:  Because so many of you want to know how I make my sentiments, I will be coming out with a special posting on Sentiments, SOON. Some of my sentiments will be available to my Followers. These little gems can be printed and used on your own cards. And yes, you will be able to upload them into Cricut Design Space to print and cut there. Or add the jpg to your own Word file and incorporate the sentiment into your own design. SO many possibilities. So stay tuned for that!

FOREVER - Sympathy Card

Elegant Dragonfly

Sympathy cards for men are often hard to find. I like the simple elegance of the dragonfly. The card front is rich with embossing while the message and design are uncluttered and clear.

The Dragonfly

I used a small die and stamp set to create the dragonfly. I cut it 3 times; 1 from silver foil cs, 1 from teal, and one from white vellum that has a few swirls. To create the texture, I stamped the vellum layer with pale aqua ink, then heat embossed it with clear. This wing layer came out shiny and textured.

The sentiment "Forever" is cut from the same silver foil cardstock as the frame layer and bottom wing layer of the dragonfly. I love the splendour it provides. It looks different from every angle as the light flashes across it.

About Me

My photo
I guess you might call me a "right brainer", loving all things creative. Cardmaking is the perfect hobby for me as it allows me to be totally creative, combining design with poetry or verses I can compose myself. With Christmas being such an important occasion for cardmaking and crafting, I decided to create a separate blog just for Christmas projects. "It's All About Christmas" will host all my Christmas items. "Gracenotes For Today" will still feature items every other occasion of the year. I hope you'll drop by often and stay awhile!
