Gearing Up to Celebrate

Here's a masculine birthday card that any guy would like. My recipient especially loves anything to do with cars and trucks. This design features a hefty 4x4 that I found as a mere graphic and refined it to work as a focal point.

Giving Him the Gears

I often work in Cricut Design Space. But when I can't find exactly what I want, I have to create it myself. Hence, the GEARS! I love how they turned out. Cut from "aluminum" cardstock, they establish the theme, add shine, dimension and make the whole thing make sense!

A Word About Paper Designs

When designing a masculine card, it's important for every piece of cardstock to be MASCULINE. That's what grabs a guy's attention. 

The materials I used

Leather-look, brick wall and faux aluminum cardstock.

I framed the sentiment in a luggage tag and made it 3 layers thick.

I sandwiched a layer of faux leather, plain white, and faux leather. I did this so the tab, when bent backwards, looks the same as the face. It looks just like a luggage tag!

I found the 4x4 vehicle as free clipart somewhere, sized it just right to fit inside the tire-shape. I wanted the vehicle to look as if it had burst through the brick wall. My son-in-law loved it and remarked, "This is totally a guy's card!" And that was my hope and reward.
